Dear students and families,
We want to extend to you our warmest welcome into our classroom! We are so excited to have you in our class! Some information about Pre-K is included on these pages to help each student have a successful school year.
MORNING CLASS 7:55 – 10:55
AFTERNOON CLASS 12:25 – 3:25
ARRIVAL TIME The morning class students may arrive at 7:45. Afternoon students may arrive at 12:20.
DISMISSAL TIME We will dismiss from the main entrance. Please pick up your child on time. We will wait outside with your child for 10 minutes. After that time, you will have to come to the office or classroom for your child.
*Please call or send a note if your child is going home with someone other than you. We will not allow your child to leave with someone unfamiliar unless we have been previously notified.
ATTENDANCE is very important! Please limit your child’s absences.
ABSENCES Send a note so the absence can be excused.
ILLNESS Do not send your child if he/she is vomiting, has fever, diarrhea, pink eye, or is not feeling well enough to participate in class. Children must be free of these symptoms for 24 hours before they can return to school. If your child is taking medication, you will need to take it to Miss Sally, our school nurse. We are not allowed to administer any medications.
VISITORS MUST CHECK IN AT THE OFFICE BEFORE COMING TO OUR CLASSROOMS. If you are taking your child out of school for an appointment, please check them out at the office.
BAD WEATHER In case of bad weather, the school will notify you through an “all call.” Afternoon students will be provided with a number, which parents will place on their vehicle on indoor dismissal days.
BIRTHDAYS If you would like, you may provide snacks for the class on your child’s birthday. Let us know ahead of time so we can plan. Students are not allowed to pass out birthday invitations at school. Kids who are not invited get their feelings hurt when they see others getting invitations.
TOYS Children are not allowed to bring toys to school. They may bring objects for “show & tell” on Fridays.
HOMEWORK Students will have homework in the form of writing, family projects, books to read, etc. Review the homework with your child. The activities are to encourage your child to discuss what they are learning in school with you, to reinforce what we are doing in our class, and to help prepare them for next year!
PROGRESS REPORTS will go out to the parents every 9 weeks. We will have parent-teacher conferences after the first 9 weeks assessment. After that, we will set up a conference with you if your child is having trouble.
CONFERENCE PERIOD If you need to visit with us about anything, please feel free to do so. Open communication is the key to a successful school year. You can always send a note, or you can call the office 659-2565 to schedule a conference.
LUNCH You may take your child to eat lunch in the cafeteria. The morning class goes to lunch after dismissal. Afternoon classes may eat from 12:00 – 12:20. You must stay with your child during lunch. Allow your child to be as independent as possible by letting him/her carry the tray, clean up, etc.
HOLIDAYS We have holiday parties during Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and an Easter egg hunt. If you do not want your child to participate in these parties, please let us know ahead of time so that other arrangements can be made.
SNACKS We will have snacks on Fridays. The calendar in their folder will have the name of the child in charge of snacks. We encourage healthy snacks. If possible, we would like for the snacks to be something to go with our lesson.
*DUE TO ALLERGIES, DO NOT SEND ANYTHING THAT CONTAINS PEANUTS!
